Age 1 First Visit

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, every child should visit a dentist around age 1 and every six months thereafter. These visits help children begin to get comfortable in a dental setting and allow dentists to observe the development of a child’s mouth from an early age.

When preparing your child for their first visit to the dentist, please reinforce the idea that going to the dentist is a fun and comfortable experience. If you are anxious about the visit, your child will sense that and will be anxious as well.

We strive to provide a fun and supportive environment for children. We will always review each treatment with your child and will only perform the procedure once they are comfortable. We will use comforting, positive words and phrases when talking to your child.

At the initial visit, Dr. Tsuyuki will perform your child's first oral examination and will review oral hygiene instructions. In some cases, he will clean your child's teeth and apply topical fluoride. The extent of the visit will depend entirely on you and your child’s comfort level.

Our goal is for both you and your child to leave our office calm, happy, and smiling from ear to ear!
